From September to November Pretoria changes to purple. The streets are lined with as many as 70,000 Jacaranda trees and when they blossom, the city is transformed from sedate administrative capital to a purple wonderland.

Pretoria is renowned for colourful Jacaranda blossoms, its role in South African history and position as one of South Africa’s three capitals. The city is full of government offices and education institutions, as well as fascinating old buildings and interesting museums.
